Scientific and Research Activities





Scientific and research work at the academy is an integral part in training highly qualified specialists and is performed in accordance with the generalized plan of scientific and research activity. The plan includes the scientific and research activity in foreground trends that have purpose investment (funding scientific and technical programs, government orders, fundamental and applied scientific and research activity in the field of preventive and clinical medicine), initiative and competitive (department) extrabudget (state contractual) dissertations (doctor’s and candidate’s).

 

The Academy’s major task is training scientific staff. 10 specialized boards in 12 specialities for doctor’s and candidate’s degree defense are operating at present.

The Academy trains postgraduate students in 40 medical and pharmaceutical specialties. For the last 5 years 42 doctor’s and 165 candidate’s degrees have been defended.

 

The young scientists take part in international and state contests. For the last 5 years they have been given 5 grants for studing for the master program “ Methods of medical diagnosis” in the University of rebro (Sweden); 3 grants for studying in Austria, France and  Schweitzer; Albert Schweitzer  International Prize and a Diploma from A. Schweitzer International medical Academy,  Warsaw (Poland); a grant from World Association of Pain investigation for participating in International Congress on the issues of Pain, Sydney (Australia); a grant from European Society of Cardiologists and 4 grants for gifted youth from the President of Ukraine; 2 Diploma from Kyiv Municipal State Administration at a contests “ Young scientists” intellect for the capital benefit’, 1 Diploma from Municipal State Administration for scientific-technological project. They were also awarded the prizes from the  President of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of  Ukraine, Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine as well as M. Hrushevs’kyi grants.

 

Scientific and Research Activities

Currently, fundamental and applied investigations based on  world medical standards are being performed at the laboratory, which are implemented in pedagogical activities and clinical practice of the Academy departments:

-  investigating immune system regulation role;

-  investigating apoptosis mechanisms;

-  investigating hypertrophy and proliferation mechanisms;

-  investigating genetic determinants of pathology process;

- investigating  the role of infection agents and cytokines in vasculocardiac pathology process;

- studying endotoxicosis contribution to vasculocardiac and cerebrovascular pathologies;

- investigating stress reactions pathogenesis;

- identifying the role of all above-mentioned factors for critical conditions progression;

- investigating processes of chronodiology and chronopharmacology;

- introduction of Vilder initial state rule in practice of health care.

Based on fundamental investigations, the problems of applied destination for using in public health practice are solved.

Thus, at CSRL, an original diagnostic algorithm has been suggested for detecting risk groups in cardiological clinic based on identifying a cell apoptosis index of cardiovascular system. New methods of individual selection in vitro of pharmaceuticals for optimizing patients’ therapy has been suggested. Methods of diagnosing and protecting stress-genic pathology are being elaborated.
