Clinical work





Clinical work is one of major activies directions at National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education named after P.L.Shupyk. Work results of every separate Department and every dean’s office make up the results of clinical work at the Academy.

Those results were attained owing to powerful resource potential: highly professional specialists at clinical departments as well as teaching clinics equiped with medical appliances and up-to-date apparatus.

Among 74 Departments at the Academy, 62 Departments have clinical orientation.

Clinical departments have powerful resouce potential: 153 Doctors of Medical Sciences and 395 Candidates of Medical Sciences. In total, clinical work is performed by 630 scientific-pedagogical specialists.

Clinicians’ professional standard is characterized by qualification categories. 407 scientific-pedagogical specialists have the higher qualification category, 80 – the first one, and 37 – the second qualification categories.

Indisputable high professionalism of the Academy professorial-teaching staff is testified by the fact that they are appointed chief specialists of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. 31 specialists of the Academy were appointed Chief Specialists according to the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine № 26-O of 05.02.09.

Clinical Departments of the Academy are based in 136 clinics. They have various department affiliation. Clinics possess over 11 thousand hospital beds.

Agreements on cooperation between teaching clinics and the Academy have been signed which contribute bussiness-like and efficient cooperation as well as it enables one to use technical potential of clinical establishments, in particular, up-dated radiological, endoscopic and other medical diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.

In 2008:

-  more than 111 thousand of patients were treated, of them almost 29 thousand at in-patient departments and about 82 thousand at out-patient departments

-  almost 203 thousand consultations were delivered, consultations were provided both at in-patient departments – about 100 thousand of patients and at out-patient departments – about 76 thousand of patients as well as outside teaching clinics – over 26 thousand of patients;

-  about 22 thousand of patients were operated on. High professionalism of specialialists of surgical deparments is confirmed by complex surgical interventions. All in all specific weight of surgical interventions is quite high. III-V complication categories operations make up more 55%.

The specialists of NMAPE named after P.L.Shupyk actively work at Ukrainian Centre of Emergent consultative care. Great volumes of consultative care are provided to patients of Kyiv region. The Departments, based in Kyiv region clinical establishment , delivere consultations outside.

Optimized cooperation of the Academy and teaching clinics enables one to widely use medical equipment of hospitals and polyclinics. However, in the last 3 years, the Academy administration has managed to find own financial resources in order to get medical apparatus. Expensive equipment makes up a considerable part among acquired medical technical equipment, in particular, endoscopic, ultrasound apparatus and laboratory equipment.

All this enables using up-dated medical technologies when providing medicoconsultative work. First of all, up-to-date diagnostic methods concern the Departments of Ophthalmology, Surgery and Transplantology, Surgery of Heart and Magistral Vessels, Thoracic Surgery and Pulmonology.

The administration and determination of directions of clinical work at the Academy are perfomed by the Vice-rector for clinical work.

 Nina G. Hoyda has been Vice-Rector for clinical work at NMAPE since 2003. Nina G. Hoyda is an author of over 216 scientific works, including monographs textbooks, educational manuals.

With the aim of coordinating clinical work of Departments in 2003, according to the Order of the Rector a Sector for clinical work and cooperation with teaching clinics of the Academy, which is a structural subdivision of NMAPE was created. The chief of the Sector for clinical work and cooperation with teaching clinics is Elvina O. Murzina, dermatologist, Candidate of Medical Science.

 

Major objectives of the Sector:

-  Creating general, scientific-methodological guidelines for optimizing therapeutic-consultative work of Department;

-  Coordinating medico-consultative care provision by the specialists of departments of the Academy;

-  Summarizing and analysing indices of clinical work in the departments;

-  Providing information about the state of clinical work for the administration of the Academy;

-  Creating and regularly supplementing data bases about the departments of the Academy (passport);

-  Participating in carrying out rating assessment of work at the departments;

-  Conducting seminars and conferences regarding planification and organisation of medico-diagnostic work with specialists at dean offices, departments and other;

-  Participating in work of commissions according to the Orders of the Rector of NMAPE;

-  Making ready orders, instructions and plans of medico-diagnostic work;

-  Controlling and distributing clinical loading of scientific-pedagogical specialists of clinical departments;

-  Controlling the condition of clinical work and registration-account documentation at the departments;

-  Controlling documents which regulate relationships between teaching clinics and departments.

NMAPE named after P.L. Shupyk provides international cooperation. At first it concerns cooperation with Swiss Confederation in the frames of Programme “Mother and Child Health”.
