Olha V. PROSKURA (1904-1978) - Honoured Worker of Science of Ukraine, Doctor of Medical Science (1959), Professor (1960), Head of the Department of Urology (1953-1973). Graduated from Kyiv Medical Institute (1928). Defended her Doctor's Dissertation "Rational Methods of Surgical Treatment of Vesicovaginal Fistulas" (1958). Disciple of Prof. A.A. Chaika. Author of 120 scientific works. Scientific direction - inflammatory diseases of urogenital system, treatment of vesicovaginal fistulas and enuresis in women, tumors of urogenital system, renal polycystosis. Disciples - Professors P.M. Fedorchenko, Ye.Ya. Baran, I.F. Yunda.

Anatoliy P. RADZIKHOVSKYI (1942) - Honoured Worker of Science an Technology (1996), State Prize Winner of Ukraine (1986), Full Member of Ukrainian Academy of Sciences of National Progress (1993) and the Academy of Engineering Sciences of Ukraine (1995), Doctor of Medical Science (1986), Professor (1992), Head of the Department of Surgery and Burn Disease (1989). Graduated from Kyiv Medical Institute (1970). Defended his Doctor's Dissertation "Treatment of Pancreatic Fistulas" (1986). Disciple of Acad. O.O. Shalimov. Author of over 250 scientific works including 16 atlases, monographs and guidances. Scientific direction - problems of surgical gastroenterology, in particular, hepatology, pancreatology, lymphology, immunity and ecology pathology. Developed the techniques of a number of original operations on the liver, biliary tract and the pancreas. 2 Doctor's and 6 Candidate's Dissertations have been performed under his supervision. Honoured Artist of Ukraine (1993). Excellent Worker of Public Health (1986), Honoured Inventor of the USSR (1987). Decorated with the Order of Merit of the III class (1998). Heorhiy H. ROSCHIN (1951) - Honoured Doctor of Ukraine (2001), State Prize Winner of Ukraine in the Field of Science and Technology (200). Candidate of Medical Science (1989), Associate Professor (1996), Head of the Department of Medicine of Catastrophes (1996). Graduated from Chernivtsi Medical Institute (1977). Defended his Candidate's Dissertation "Pathogenetic Substantiation of Surgical Treatment of Chronic Hepatitis with Cholestasis Syndrome" (1989). Disciple of Acad. O.O. Shalimov. Author of over 100 scientific works, 10 licences and copyright certificates. Scientific direction - complex treatment of victims with associated and multiple traumata in extreme situations, Head of Ukrainian Scientific-Practical Centre of Emergency Medical Care and Catastrophe Medicine.

Anatoliy Ye. RUDENKO (1935) - State Prize Winner of Ukraine (1993), Honoured Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine (1999), Honoured Doctor of Ukraine (1980). Doctor of Medical Science (1981), Professor (1989). Head of the Department of Nervous Diseases-2 (1983). Graduated from Donetsk Medical Institute (1958). Defended his Doctor's Dissertation "Pre-Stroke Period of Hypertensive Disease" (1980). Disciple of Prof. D.I. Panchenko. Author of over 180 scientific works. Scientific direction - early diagnosis, clinical picture, prophylaxis and therapy of cerebro-vascular diseases. 4 Doctor's and 6 Candidate's Dissertations have been performed under his supervision.

Serhiy N. RUCHKOVSKY (1888-1967) - Corresponding Member of the AMS of Russian Federation (1946). Doctor of Biological Science, Professor, Head of the Department of Epidemiology (1930-1958). Graduated from Medical Faculty of St. Volodymyr University (1914). Author of over 100 scientific works including 4 monographs. Scientific direction - bacteriology and epidemiology of intestinal diseases.

SAYENKO (1941) - Corresponding-Member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1991), State Prize Winner of the USSR (1987), Honoured Worker of Science and Technology (1992), Doctor of Medical Science (1980), Professor (1984). Head of the Department of Thoracoabdominal Therapy and Vascular Surgery (1992). Graduated from Kharkiv Medical Institute (1964). Defended his Doctor's Dissertation "Surgical Treatment of Dumping Syndrome" (1980). Disciple of Acad. O.O. Shalimov. Author of over 300 scientific works including 7 monographs. Graduated from Minsk Medical Institute (1965). Defended his Doctor's Dissertation "Diagnosis, Pathogenesis, Modern Methods of Treatment of Cerebral Arachnoiditis" (1989). Disciple of Prof. D.I. Panchenko. Author of 219 scientific works including 16 monographs, 7 educational manuals, 21 inventions, 2 licences, 54 rationalization proposals. Scientific direction - diagnosis, clinical picture and modern methods of treatment (physiotherapy and physiopuncture) of nervous system diseases. 4 Candidate's Dissertation have been performed under his supervision. Mykola M. SERHIYENKO (1934) - State Prize Winner of Ukraine (1988), Corresponding Member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1992), Corresponding-Member of the AMS of Ukraine (1993), Doctor of Medical Science (1972), Professor (1974), Head of the Department of Ophthalmology (1978). Graduated from Kharkiv Medical Institute (1958). Defended his Doctor's Dissertation "Investigation of the Theory of Clinical Refraction of the Eye" (1971). Author of 260 scientific works including 4 monographs, 30 inventions, as well as foreign licences. Developed new models of artificial lenses. SIVACHENKO (1923) - State Prize Winner of Ukraine in the Field of Science and Technology (1972), Honoured Worker of Science and Technology (1979), Doctor of Medical Science (1967), Professor (1968). Head of the Department of Medical Radiology (from 1991 - that of Radiation Medicine) (1966-1993). Graduated from Kyiv Medical Institute (1947). Defended her Doctor's Dissertation "Diagnostic and Therapeutic Use of Radioactive Iodine Isotopes in Thyroid diseases" (1967). Author of 380 scientific works, including 7 monographs. Scientific direction - development of techniques and apparatus radionuclide diagnostics, radiation treatment of oncological patients, investigation of clinical aspects of Chernobyl NPP Disaster consequences. 6 Doctor's and 41 Candidate's Dissertations have been performed under her supervision. Mykola I. SYMOROD (1928) - Honoured Worker of Public Education of Ukraine (1998), Doctor of Medical Science (1972), Professor (1974). Head of the Department of Topographical Anatomy and Operative Surgery (1991-1997), Chief of the Course of Topographical Anatomy and Operative Surgery (1997). Graduated from Lviv Medical Institute (1953). Defended his Doctor's Dissertation "Blood Circulation System of Gastro-Intestinal Tract in Gastric Resection and Gastroectomies" (1972). Disciple of the scientific school of Acad. V.V. Kovanov. Author of 185 scientific works including 1 monograph and 4 educational manuals. Dmytro F. SKRYPNYCHENKO (1921-1994) - State Prize Winner of Ukraine (1986), Doctor of Medical Science (1956), Professor (1957), Head of the Department of Surgery-1 (1964-1988). Graduated from Petersburg Military Medical Academy (1943). Defended his Doctor's Dissertation "Surgical Treatment of Bronchoectatic Diseas" (1956). Disciple of Prof. V. I. Struchkov. Author of over 300 scientific works including 20 monographs. Scientific direction - thoracic surgery, abdominal surgery, vascular surgery, endocrinological surgery, pancreatic surgery, organization of surgical care. 3 Doctor's and 34 Candidate's dissertations were performed under his supervision. Disciples - Professors D.I. Krivitsky, M.F. Mazuryk, V.I. Mamchych, M.M. Shevnyuk, K.A. Tsyberne. Participant of the Great Patriotic war. Ivan T. TITOV (1875-1953) - Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Bilorussia, Doctor of Medicine (1912), Professor (1915), Head of the Department of Pathological Anatomy (1922-1924). Graduated from Medical Faculty of St. Volodymir University. Defended his Doctor's Dissertation "About Influence of Serum of Animals which Underwent Thyroidectomy on the Function of the Thyroid Gland" (1912). Disciple of Professor V.K. Vysokovych.

Oleksiy O. Timofeyev (1951) - Honoured Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine (2002), Doctor of Medical Science (1990), Professor (1990), Head of the Department of Maxillo-Facial Surgery (1990). Graduated from Kyiv Medical Institute (1973). Defended his Doctor's Dissertation "Diagnosis, Treatment and Prophylaxis of Acute Odontogenic inflammatory diseases of soft tissues" (1988). Graduated from Kyiv Medical Institute (1959). Defended his Doctor's Dissertation "Arterial Hypertension and Age (problems of hemodynamics)" (1971). Disciple of Prof. A.L. Mihnev and Acad. D.F. Chebotarev. Author of 200 scientific works including 6 monographs. TRESCHINSKY (1923) - Honoured Worker of Science of Ukraine (1983), State Prize Winner of Ukraine (2000), Laureate of Palladin Prize (1981), Doctor of Medical Science (1963), Professor (1964), Head of the Department of Anesthesiology (1967-1996). Graduated from Vinnytsya Medical Institute (1950). Defended his Doctor's Dissertation "Anesthesia and Providing of Safety during Open Heart Operations with Artificial Blood Circulation" (1963). Disciple of Prof. H.D. Dinaburg, Acad. M.M. Amosov. Author of over 400 scientific works including 7 monographs. Scientific direction - treatment of acute chronic pain syndrome; clinical-physiological and clinical-pharmacological aspects of general and regional anesthesia; clinical and physiological, diagnostic aspects and intensive therapy of severe pyo-inflammatory processes and sepsis. Yakiv A. FIALKOV (1885-1958) - Corresponding-Member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1945), Doctor of Pharmaceutical Science (1941), Professor (1941), Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry (1939-1953). Graduated from Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (1925). His Doctor's Degree was conferred without defending a thesis (1941). Author of 217 scientific works including 11 monographs and textbooks. Scientific direction - chemistry of complex compounds. Founder of the Centre of Scientific Investigations of Chemistry of Complex Compounds and Use of Radioactive Isotopes in Ukraine. 3 Doctor's and 32 Candidate's Dissertations were performed under his supervision. Arkadiy F. FROLOV (1931) - Corresponding-Member of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1992), Corresponding-Member of the Medical Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (1993), Corresponding-Member of the Academy of Sciences of Russia (1991), Honoured Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine (1980), Doctor of Medical Science (1971), Professor (1981), Head of the Department of Epidemiology (1992-2000). Graduated from Ivano-Frankivs'k Medical Institute (1953). Defended his Doctor's Dissertation "Some Neurohumoral and Metabolic Factors of Arteriosclerosis and Coronary Insufficiency Development"(1970). Disciple of Acad. D.F. Chebotarev. Author of over 300 scientific works including 7 monographs.
