Head of the Department of Nervous Diseases (1922-1941). Graduated from Medical Faculty of St. Volodymyr University (1909). Disciple of Prof. M.M. Lapinsky. Author of over 170 scientific works including 25 monographs. Scientific direction - problems of clinical neurology and neurooncology. The first in this country described pineal body tumor and in the world literature he was the first to describe clinical picture of craniopharyngioms. Oleksandr M. MARZEYEV (1883-1956) - Academician of the USSR AMS (1944), Honoured Worker of Science of Ukraine (1935), Doctor of Medical Science (1935), Professor (1940). Graduated from Medical Faculty of Moscow University (1911). Improved his knowledge in the laboratory of V.G. Khlopin. Head of Sanitary-Epidemiological Department of People's Commissariat of Health Care of Ukraine (1922-1934). Head of Ukrainian (Kharkiv) Research Institute of Communal Hygiene (created on his initiative)(1931-1941). At the same time, Head of the Department of Hygiene of Ukrainian (Kharkiv) Institute for Advanced Training of Phisicians (1930-1941) and Head of Communal Hygiene of Kharkiv Medical Institute (1934-1941). Scientific superviser and Head of Sanitary-Hygienic Department of Kazakh Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, Head of the Department of Epidemiology of Alma-Ata Medical institute (1941-1944). From 1944 to 1956 - Director of Kyiv Research Institute of Communal Hygiene, Head of the Department of Communal Hygiene of Kyiv State Institute for Advanced Training of Physicians (till 1946) and Kyiv Medical Institute (till 1956). Initiator of creation and organizer in the USSR of the first Sanitary-Epidemiological Stations. Was the first in the USSR to investigate atmospheric air pollution. His carried out investigations of Donbas water reservoirs were assumed as a basics of general scheme of its water-supply and sewerage. Based on his developed recommendations, the reconstruction and construction of villages, hydrotechnical installations on the Dnipro were realized. Author of over 130 scientific works regarding various problems of communal hygiene, including the first manual of communal hygiene.Kyiv Research Institute of General and Communal Hygiene was named after O.M. Marzeyev. Rewarded with government awards.

Author of about 70 scientific works. Scientific direction - intensification of labor activity in its inertia, methods and ways of mass anesthesia of labors and their introduction in the practice of obstetric aid, fight against mortinatality, endogenic infection, prophylaxis and therapy of postnatal diseases, importance and use of capillaroscopic methods in toxicosis of pregnancy. Founder of scientific-practical school of carrying out mass oncoprophylactic women's examinations, labor pain relief. One of the organizers of rural maternity hospitals in Ukraine. Numerous well-known obstetricians-gynaecologists are disciples of his scientific-practical school: 15 Professors (including Acad. of the USSR AMS A.P. Nikolayev, S.P. Vinogradov, Yu.Ya.
