Scientific-research work at the Academy is an integral part of training highly qualified specialists. It consists in using scientific investigations in teaching process, putting on the staff the most educated and skilled scientists for educational work and implementing scientific developments into health protection practice.

 Teaching staff members and scientific coworkers carry out investigations of fundamental and applied value. Scientific investigations are financed by the state budget, through concourse, grants and commercial contracts.

 As a result of scientific-research activities, monographs, textbooks, educational manuals, reference books, collections of scientific works, materials of scientific forums, scientific articles are published at state level and international level. Methodological recommendations, information letters, innovations are published and sent to various regions of Ukraine. Over 100 patents of inventions, 10 certificates of copyright registration are obtained at the Academy every year, normative documents are worked out, many scientific forums are organized and held. The Academy is a co-founder of more than 20 scientific journals.

 The Academy scientists were rewarded with medals, over 30 scientists were conferred a title of “Honored Science and Technology Worker of Ukraine”, over 20 scientists were awarded a title of “State Prizewinner of Ukraine” for their scientific developments.

 One of the most important tasks of the Academy is training scientific-pedagogical personnel. Half a centure ago, the Academy was given the right of awarding the Degree of Candidate of Medical Science. Today, the Academy has 9 Specialized Academic Boards for awarding Doctor’s and Candidate’s Degrees in 11 special areas. The Academy trains postgraduates (citizens of Ukraine and foreign citizens) in 40 medical and pharmaceutical specialties. Over 10 Doctor’s and 50 Candidate’s Theses are defended every year.

 The training of postgraduates as well as clinical residents and masters is provided based on a state order, through contracts and target destination.
