Within 2 days 5 section meetings were conducted, in which over 700 physicians took part.
A report on the role of family physicians in managing gastroenterological patients was presented by President of the Association of family physicians, Professor G.I.Lysenko.
Gastroenterological pathology is one of the most common pathologies both in children and adults of various age groups. Being able to suspect and timely establishing a preliminary diagnosis are a compulsory requirement for the work of a family physician.
The section “Diseases of the stomach” was devoted to the issues of diagnosing and treatment patients with dyspepsia, gastroesophageal reflux disease and atrophic gastritis.
The peculiarities of treating patients with gastroduodenal pathology associated with Helicobacter pylori in conformity with Maastricht consensus-3 were emphasized once more.
Very relevant was a section devoted to the problems of oncological gastric diseases and up-to-date endosopic technologies in gastroenterology conducted by Professor V.I.Nikishayev.
Unfortunately, in this country, oncological diseases are seen to be increasing. Annually, 13 000 new cases of carcinoma of the stomach are diagnosed, among them 76% of patients die within the first year of the disease. In the majority of cases, carcinoma of the stomach is diagnosed in advanced stages, therefore it is very important to carry out primary and secondary stomach cancer prophylaxis.
Interesting information was presented about up-to-date technologies in endoscopy used in leading world clinics, perspectives of using endosonography in diagnosing diseases of biliary tract and pancreas in Ukraine.
Ukrainian and Russian scientists gave reports on their experience of consecutive diagnosis and treating patients with various forms of chronic intestinal diseases and hepatitis at section meetings “Hepatic pathology” and “Intestinal pathology”. The problems of current methods of diagnosing viral, autoimmune and steatohepatitis, chronic colitis, associated pathology were discussed.
Physicians became very interested in a lecture “Human and helminths” delivered by Professor Ye.I.Bodnya (KhMAPE). Unfortunately, little attention is paid to the issues of detection and elimination of parasitic invasions, which are not rarely one of the causes of inflammmatory intestinal diseases.
Russian colleagues Professors V.G.Radchenko, V.Yu.Golofeyevsky, M.D.Ardatska shared their experience of treating patients of gastroenterological profile.
The V section was consecrated to dietotherapy and phytotherapy in gastroenterology taking into account the fact that administering adequate dietotherapy is the most important treatment stage in practice of family physicians and gastroenterologists.
Specialists of the Department of Gastroenterology and Dietology at NMAPE, dietariens of research Institute of PAG (Pathology of Obstetrics and Gynecology), private clinic “Medicom” presented their reports. The issues of diet for elderly people, children, the problems of food intolerance, using biologically active additives were discussed as well.
In general, the School was very interesting, it provoked a great interest in physicians.
The School ended at 1700 on Saturday almost in packed audience. It is only desirable that such schools should be organised regularly.
The following reportrs attracted much attention:
1. N.V.Kharchenko Chronic inflammatory intestinal diseases Microcolitis
2. N.V.Kharchenko Peculiarities of diet for elderly people. Nutrition and quality of life
