History Data:
The Department of Clinical Immunology and Allergology was founded in 1985 on the base of the Kyiv Clinical Hospital N28 and since 1989 it has been located in Kiev Clinical Hospital N8.
The major aspect of the Department activities is training of specialists for practical medicine in the field of clinical immunology and allergology, laboratory immunology, immunology and hirudotherapy, as well as providing medical, organizational-methodological and consultative assistance for public health bodies.
Teaching and Methodological Activities:
The following courses are held at the Department:
Specialization: in clinical immunology, allergology, immunology, laboratory immunology.
Pre-certification: in clinical immunology, allergology, immunology, laboratory immunology.
Topical Advanced Training: “Clinical immunology”; “Clinical immunology and allergology”; “Immunology in inflammatory and allergic pathologies”; “Using hirudotherapy methods in clinical practice”, “Laboratory immunology”.
Training clinical residents and post-graduate students: since its existence the Department has trained clinical residents and post-graduate students including citizens from other countries of the world.
Scientific Research Activities:
Investigating pathogenetic mechanisms and identifying prognostic factors in patients with immunodependent and allergic diseases taking into account intracellular cooperation; developing principles of systemic and local immunocorrection.
Clinical work:
The bases of the Department are Kyiv City Clinical Hospital N8, Municipal Allergological Center: Out-Patient Department (intended for 10,000 consultations per year) and II Allergological Department (60 hospital beds), ffirm “Forpost, immunology and allergology”, Institute named after Strazchesko – Laboratory of immunology. The staff members of the Department give, on the average, 1000 consultations per year.
International activities:
Participation in international conferences, symposiums.
