History Data: The department was founded on September 1, 2007 in conformity with the Resolution of the Academic Council and the Order of Rector of NMAPE named after P.L. Shupyk, Professor Yu.V.Voronenko, Associate Member of the AMS. Professor H.P.Kozynets, Doctor of Medicine, State Prize Winner of Ukraine, President of the Association of Combustiologists of Ukraine, Member of the Association of Combustiologists and Plastic Surgeons of Russia and Europe, Member of the Central Attestation Commission of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine was elected Head of the Department. Major structural subdivisions of the Department is the Course of Combustiology for post-graduate advanced training of doctors-combustiologists at specialization and pre-certification courses “Combustiology” as well as doctors-surgeons , traumatologists, anesthesiologists at courses of Topical Advanced Training of relevant problems of burns, frostbites, traumatic and infectious skin lesions for mastering required qualification and practical skills, acquiring current methods of diagnosing and treating. Major directions of the Department activities is pedagogical work in advanced training of doctors of surgical profile on current problems of preventive, reconstructive-restorative and cosmetic surgery of various areas of the human body for mastering required practical skills and acquiring up-to-date methods of interventions. The Department is Central Department in Ukraine in Combustiology. The staff members of the Department are: - Serhii P. Kebuladzе - Candidate of Medicine, Member of World Association of Plastic Surgeons, Member of Ukrainian and Brazilian Association of Plastic Surgeons, leading co-worker at Kyiv Institute of Endocrinology and Metabolism named after Acad. V.P. Komisarenko, Director of the Сentre of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery “F et M” - Associate Professor of the Department. - Vasyl’D. Pinchuk - Candidate of Medicine, Director of Kyiv City Сentre of Microsurgery and Cosmetic Medicine, Member of the Presidium of the All-Ukrainian Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgeons - Associate Professor of the Department. - Yurii M. Preparation of pedagogical process is performed by senior lab assistants S.M.Nechyporuk and S.M.Startseva, Candidate of Medicine. Internship Scientific Research Activities: Staff members of the Department take an active part in organizing and holding congresses, conferences, meetings of leading free-lance experts in combustiology and plastic surgery, they are members of Specialized Academic Councils in Surgery, member of editorial boards of journals Clinical Surgery, Surgery of Ukraine, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. 4 doctoral and 1candidate dissertations are being performed under the supervision of Prof. H.P.Kozynets. Major directions of the Department activity are developing methods of an early surgical treatment of superficial and deep dermal burns; developing metods of preventive surgical treatment of sub-facial burns in thermal and electrothermic lesions; conservative treatmentr of post-burn hypertrophic and keloid cicatrices; surgical rehabilitation of patients with post-burn contractures and joint deformations, early diagnostication, prophylaxis and management of septic complications in extended deep burns; closure of acquired tissue defects of various localization and depth, dislocation of lost anatomical structures (muscles, joints, bones); replantation of extremities and their segments amputated as a result of trauma, treatment of acute limb injuries including their revascularization and reinnervation, treatment of severe hand injuries, restoration of injuries of peripheral vessels, nerves, tendons, hand and Ringer tendons as well as their sequelae, surgical treatment of fingerless hands, microsurgical treatment of Dupuytren’s contractures, all types of cosmetic and rejuvenascence operations on mammary gland, face, limbs, urogenital area, correction of human body contours, surgical diseases of urogenital area – traumatic amputation of genitalia, sequelae of genital injuries, treatment of female and male transsexualism; treatment of abnormal development of limbs, floors of the auricles, alopecia. Throughout the Department existence, the staff members have published 5 scientific works in specialized editions of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine, 8 abstracts in materials of scientific conference. They have participated in 5 scientific conferences and congresses as well as they have presented their reports. Clinical work: Major teaching hospitals of the Department are Kyiv City Сlinical Hospital №2 (Kyiv City Centre of thermal injuries and Plastic Surgery), Kyiv City Clinical Hospital № 3, Kyiv City Clinical Hospital № , Nationalm Institute of Surgery and Transplantology named after O.O.Shalimov, the AMS of Ukraine. The Centre of Thermal Injury and plastic Surgery is a scientific and methodological centre of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
