History Data

The department was founded on February 9, 2001, by initiative of V. N. Girin, Ex-rector of Kyiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education named after P. L. Shupyk, with the aim to provide highly qualified dentistry help for the population of Ukraine through postgraduate studying of stomatologists. The department was headed by professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences O. V. Pavlenko.

Teaching and Methodological Work:

The following courses are held at the department:

Specialization: specialization in Stomatology, duration ─ 3 months;

Pre-certification: pre-certification in Stomatology. Duration ─ 1 month. Pre-certification course in Pediatric Stomatology. Duration ─ 1 month.

Internship. Postgraduating studying course in Stomatology. Duration 18 months.

Topical Advanced: Duration ─ 1 month.

The department conducts educational work with masters, clinical residents, postgraduate students, practicing stomatologists on the bases equipped with modern stomatological facilities. Study provided by the teaching staff of the department with application of complete methodological and technical equipment (projectors, slide-projectors, video).

Scientific Research Activities:

The priority direction of the department is to master the most modern and complicated technologies, worked out both in Ukraine and abroad, with the aim to introduce it into everyday practice of dentists. The scientific direction of the department is to develop existing methods of diagnostics and prophylaxis of dental diseases, using modern technologies of medicine and information science. The subject of planned scientific research work is: “Clinical and experimental substantiation of using modern medical technology in diagnosis, treatment and prophylaxis of general stomatological diseases”.
