Department History:

The department of orthopedic dentistry was founded in 1964 It is located at the city dental polyclinic.

Scientific Research

Department researchers have prodused 496 scientific works, 1 reference book, methodologycally-theaching text book, 30 patents, 8 innovations, 8 inf. letters, 44 certificates of rationalization propositions, 3 methodological recommendations, 25 educational curriculums and programs.

In department is performing research on a subject: “Especiality of diagnostic, treatment and rehabilitation of patient with teeth row defects”. Leader of the topic: Chairperson of the orthopedic dentistry department, professor V.I. Bida.

Clinical work:

1. Consulting patients with additional and special methods of examination;

2. Treating patients with removable and non-removable prosthetics with the use of modern technologies and materials;

3. Treating systemic diseases (pathological abrasion of teeth, periodontitis, parodontosis, temporomandibular joint disease)

International activities:

In recent years, the Department of Orthopedic Dentistry has trained clinical residents and postgraduate students from different countries of the world. These include: Syria, Morocco, China, Iran, India, and Armenia.

The teaching staff members of the department had their probation period at dental product manufacturing companies (Ivoclar, Willams, Vivadent, - Germany; Planmeka - Finland).

Graduates of the department work as teachers at the Damascus Medical University (Syria).

The Department of Orthopedic Dentistry invites opportunities for cooperation with medical universities, academies, dental institutes, scientists, and manufacturers of dental products.
