History Data:
The Department of Haematology and Transfusiology was founded in 1968 on the base of the Kyiv Regional Clinical Hospital No. 1. The basic direction of the activity of the Department is training of doctors for practical medicine in the field of haematology and transfusiology, as well as realization of medical, organizational-methodical and consultative assistance for the bodies of health service.

Specialization: in Haematology, Transfusiology, Children’s Haematology
Pre-certification: in Haematology, Transfusiology, Children’s Haematology
Topical Advanced Training: “Actual questions of haematology and Transfusiology”, “Anemias”, “Therapeutical Donor Plasmophoresis”, “Clinical Transfusiology”.
For interns of Allied Departments on the problems of Hematology and Transfusiology.
Clinical residencies and post-graduate education.
From the very beginning of its existence, the Department conducts training of clinical residents and postgraduate students, including the citizens of other countries of the world. Since 1992 to the present time, 5 postgraduate students and 10 clinical residents (including 5 foreign ones) have been trained.
Scientific Research Activities:
- Study of pathogenetic mechanisms and determination of prognostic factors in chronic lympho-, myeloprolipherative disorders and hemapoiesis depression;
- Study of peculiarities of metabolic disorders in anemias.

Clinical work:
The bases of the Department are: Kyiv Regional Oncology Centre (70 beds), Central Military Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine (20 beds). The employees of the Department perform, in average, 1000 consultations for patients annually.
