Department of Children Infectious Diseases and Children’s Immunology

History Data:

Department of Children infectious diseases and children immunology NMAPO named after P.L. Shupika was founded at December 25 1992 as Department of Children infectious diseases, in relation with increasing amount of the infection diseases, first of all epidemic to diphtheria. In 2000 department was renamed to department of the Children infectious diseases and children immunology.

In spite of its young age, but may be exactly due to him, department has been able to occupy one of leading places amongst scientific and scholastic institutions of the Ukraine.

Teaching and Methodological Work:

On department are conducted cycles:

Specialization: on children immunology, children infectious diseases.

Pre-certificate: on children immunology, children infectious diseases.

Thematic improvement: "Modern questions of immunodeficiency conditions among children", "Elected questions of the infectious diseases among children", "Modern questions of HIV-infections among children".

Internship: on children infectious disease.

The training on the self-supporting bases on any cycles is possible, which conducts the department. For planning the out-based thematic cycles of the application for the following year the chief of medical-preventive institutions, the regional pediatrician necessary to coordinate with department at November-December, when plans of the department schedule on the following year.

Preparation of the clinical interns and post-graduate students. The scientific personnel prepare on department through magistracy, clinical internship, and intramural post-graduate and extramural post-graduate courses. Now on department 2 clinical interns, 2 intramural post-graduate students are trained.

Scientific Research Activities:

Since time of the establishment, the scientific directions of the department are the problems of the pediatric infectious diseases - intestinal infections, innate infections (so named TORCH-group), CNS-infections. Also department actively develops the modern trends in children clinical immunology - a diagnostics and treatment of children with primary and secondary immunodeficiency, problems to efficacy of vaccination and postvaccinal complications. At present scientific work "The Particularities of the infectious syndrome for ill primary and secondary immunodeficiency” is carried out.

Under the initiative of stand, and directly professor L. Chernyshova were organized following scientifically-practical conferences were conducted: 2000 - Conference - seminar of the children's immunologists,. Kiev; 2001 - I All-Ukrainian scientific-practical conference “Problems of an immunology in pediatrics” with participation of pediatricians; 2002 - II All-Ukrainian scientific-practical conference “Problems of an immunology in pediatrics” with participation of children infectious diseases doctors; 2003 - III All-Ukrainian scientific-practical conference “Problems of an immunology in pediatrics”; 2004 - IV All-Ukrainian scientific-practical conference “Problems of an immunology in pediatrics”; 2005 - V All-Ukrainian scientific-practical conference “Problems of an immunology in pediatrics”.

The following conference, pursuant to the Republican schedule of realization of scientific - practical conferences will be conducted by September 17-19 2003г. The application forms for participation in conference (report, thesis) to send to the address stands departments.

Clinical work:

Clinical bases of stand are a urban children's hospital №1 (450 places), directly children's infection department (50 places), and also children's infection department of a urban children's hospital №2 (60 places). Under the initiative of department, and directly professor’s L. Chernyshova in 2000 Kiev urban center of a children's clinical immunology is organized. Appointment in which daily is conducted the teachers of the department. The telephone of the registry is 411-39-65. For today the center executes functions of republican immunological center. Each 10 children with a primary immunodeficiency detected in Ukraine, has passed through our department. For consulting, and if necessary for hospitalization in the Kiev center of a children's clinical immunology from other locales of Ukraine the precursor arrangement with the employees of stand by telephone stands is indispensable.

International activities:

The Professor L. Chernyshova is a member European society of pediatric infection diseases, member of group of clinical immunology European federation scientific immunologycal societies. The senior lecturer Volocha A.P. is member of European society of pediatric infection diseases.
