Department of Children’s Anesthesiology and Intensive Therapy

History Data:

The Department was founded in 1988. Its first name was the Department of children’s anesthesiology and resuscitation, later – the Department of pediatric anesthesiology and intensive therapy. The Department was created on the base of courses of intensive therapy of pediatrics, which were held at the department of anesthesiology and resuscitation of Kyiv State Institute of Advanced Training of Physicians in 1978. Since the time of its foundation till now the Department has been headed by Hennadiy I. Belebezyev, Doctor of Medical Science, Professor, Leading Pediatrics Anesthesiologist of Public Health Ministry of Ukraine, Honoured Doctor of Ukraine.

Teaching and Methodological Work:

The following courses are held at the Department:

Specialization training in pediatric anesthesiology

Pre-certification training in pediatric anesthesiology

Internship in pediatric anesthesiology

Topical Advanced Training: for regional head specialists – pediatric anesthesiologists

The training of specialists on a self financing basis may be provided: specialized training, internship, pre-certification training courses.

Training of clinical residents and post-graduate students: 14 clinical residents and 5 post-graduate students were training.

Scientific Research Activities:

-Role of immunological diagnosis in intensive therapy of purulent-septic complications in children

-Anesthesia of surgical interventions in children with concomitant pathology

Clinical work:

-Supervision of base departments of anesthesiology, resuscitation and intensive therapy;

-Consultative-therapeutic work at profile in-patient departments of the city;

-Direct participation in intensive therapy of patients or base departments of intensive therapy;

-Direct participation in rendering complex anesthesiological maintenance in base departments;

-Consultative-therapeutic work at pediatric regional centers of anesthesiology, resuscitation and intensive therapy on calls of the Center of Extremal Medicine and Sanaviation

International activities:

Participation in the work of international symposia, conferences, congresses
