History Data:

The Chair of Urgent and Emergency Medical Care was founded on March 17, 1988 under the Rector's order N71. 14.01.2003, the Department was given a new name – the Chair of Medicine of Emergency Conditions'' according to the order N27 of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Its first Head was Prof. Ya.V.Goyer, and since December 3, 1991 the Department has been headed by Prof. I.S.Zozulia. 7 lecturers, 2 lab. assistants, 25 interns, 1 post-graduate student, 4 clinical residents are working at the Department.


Teaching and Methodological Activities:

The following courses are held at the Department:

specialization (3 months) — "Medicine of Emergency Conditions"

Pre-certification (1 month) — "Medicine of Emergency Conditions"

Topical Advanced Training –

  1. "Current Issues of Medicine of Emergency Conditions" (1 month)

  2. "Current Problems of Clinical Toxicology". Duration (0.5 month)

This’s Internship of the first and second year education.

Scientific Activities:

The major directions of scientic-research work are:

  1. "Optimizing diagnostic, therapeutic tactics and developing the ways of correcting cerebral hemodynamics in acute cerebral circulation disorders"

  2. "Developing effective methods of treating acute abdominal diseases".


Clinical work:

The clinical premises of the chair are in Kyiv city Clinical Hospital of Emergency Medical Care (Department of Intensive Therapy of General Practice, Department of Toxicological Resuscitation, Department of Cardioresuscitation, Department of Neurosurgical Resuscitation, 1-4 Surgical Departments, 1-3 Neurosurgical Departments, 1-2 Traumatological Departments, Department of Polytrauma, Therapeutic and Infarct Department) and Kyiv Substation of Emergency Medical Care N11.


International Activities:

The Department maintains scientific relations with scientists from Canada.
