Informative communication
Dear colleagues,
You are invited to take part in the first Scientific-Methodological Conference “Problems of Continuing Professional Development of Doctors and Pharmaceutists” with international participation which will be held on 15-16 February 2007 at National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education named after P.L. Shupyk in Kyiv.
The following aspects are included in the Conference Programme:
1. Issues of harmonizing Ukrainian medical education with world and Europe an education systems.
2. Organizing continuing professional development (CPD).
3. Problems of creating CPD standards.
4. Problems of licensing curricula
5. Assessing education quality
- Medical education quality at institutional, national and world levels.
- Criteria and technologies or assessing medical education quality.
- systems of quality managing in higher medical schools.
6. Problems of creating professional competence.
- Problems of creating medical thinking and activity
- Major competencies and their assessing
7. Actual and unsettled issues of training faculty members for higher medical schools.
8. Information technologies in education
- creating an integrated global education space
- virtual educational institutions
- developing communications in educational system
- electronic textbooks
9. Role and place of distance education in continuing professional development (CPD)
10. CPD didactic methods modifications under current conditions, self-education technologies.
Registration will start at 9.00 on 15 February.
The Conference opening ceremony will take place at 10.00
The Conference official languages are Ukrainian, Russian and English.
Papers for consideration should be sent in printed version (signed by the authors) and electronic version (file *. Doc MS Word 97), volume of 1-3 pages.
Deadline for submission of papers is on 1 December 2006. You should send the following materials to the Organizing Committee:
1. A text of materials in paper format (signed by the authors)
2. An electronic version of Your materials: a 3.5- inch floppy disk or by E-mail.
3. An application form filled in by a Participant of the Conference (an application form is enclosed)
4. A copy of a check certifying the payment for publishing materials on which the first author’s surname and the title of the printed work should be written
5. A copy of a check certifying the payment for participation in the Conference where a participant’s full name should be written.
Presentation materials sent by fax or only in electronic version will not be accepted for publication.
Money order transfer for publication by the time fixed is required to publish materials in a collection of scientific works of the Conference.
Requirements for preparing materials (abstracts):
1. Materials include a reference letter of institution, where a paper has been performed with signatures of Scientific Supervisor or the head of establishment which is certified by a seal, signatures of all authors and information about the authors.
2. Materials should be printed on format A-4 paper, 1.5 intervals with 2 cm margins, in Times New Roman print, 14 painttype.
3. Work structure: the title of the work (in capital letters) each author’s initials and surnames from indented line, comma and the full name of the organization which is represented by the author, then after an interval a text.
4. Materials will be published in an author’s version. Proof-correcting will not be made by editorial staff, therefore, the organizing Committee is not responsible for the content reliability and the availability of orthographical and stylistic mistakes.
Conference participation fee and stay in Kyiv (including VAT):
- Fee for participation in the conference – 50 hryvnyas.
- Fee for publication of materials of reports – hr. 20 for a page.
- Accommodation in the Academy hostel – 12-13 hryvnyas per 24h
- Accommodation in a Kyiv hotel (depending on a category)- 60 hryvnyas and more per 24h
- Fee for reservation, accommodation and meals in a hotel are settled for cash payment by the Conference participants when registering and leaving a hotel.
- The organizing Committee does not provide return tickets.

The payment includes:
- a complete set of a participant of the Conference;
- publication of materials in a collection of scientific works
Facilities for holding the Conference:
A modern conference hall with required technical facilities (a projection apparatus for pictures illustration on transparent films and a multimedia projector) will be available for holding the conference.
