Yuriy V. Voronenko (1950) — Doctor of Medical Science (1991), Professor (1991), Associate Member of the AMS of Ukraine (2003), Rector of the Academy (2002), Head of the Department of Public Health Management (2004). In 1973, graduated from O.O. Bohomolets Kyiv Medical Institute (now — National Medical University) with Honours and a testimonial for scientific activities. Worked his way up from post-graduate student (1973-1976), assistant (1976-1983), Associate Professor (1983-1990), Professor (1991) of the Department of Social Medicine to its superintendence (1990-2003). In 1991, he defended his Doctoral Thesis "Social and Hygienic Fundamentals of Prophylaxis and Organization of Staging Treatment of Burns". In 1995-2002 — Head of the Central Administration Board of Education, Science and Information-Analytical Maintenance of Ukrainian Health Ministry". Well-known scientific expert in the field of social medicine. Participated in working out some projects of Conceptions of developing health protection for Ukrainian population as well as of many President’s Decrees, the Cabinet of Ministers’ decisions. Participant of numerous forums under the aegis of WHO and Programmes of international cooperation with many foreign organizations as well as he represented Ukraine with scientific reports in many world counties. Scientific direction is theory and practice of social medicine, public health and medical education management. Author of more than 300 scientific works including 9 textbooks, 16 educational and methodological manual editions, 17 monographs. 7 Doctors of Science and 8 Candidates of Science have been trained under his supervision. Academician of the AS of Higher Education of Ukraine (1996), Laureate of State Prize of Ukraine in the field of Science and Technology (1997), Honoured Science and Technology Worker of Ukraine (1999), Academician of the AS of Higher Education of Ukraine (1996), Academician of the AMS of Poland (2003) and International Academy of Medicine "Albert Schweitzer" (2003). Decorated with the Order of Merit of III (2003) and II (2008) degrees. Professor Yu.V. Voronenko is member of National Council for Public Health Attached to the President of Ukraine, member of the Presidium of the Academic Medical Council of the MH of Ukraine, member of Experts Council of DAK of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, member of the Problem Commission for Social Hygiene and Public Health Organization at the Ministry of Health and the AMS of Ukraine, Head of the Specialized Board for Defence theses in Social Medicine (2003) at the NMAPE named after P.L. Shupyk, Editor-of-Chief of the journal “Medical Education” and member of editorial boards of a number scientific medical journals.
