 Yuriy V. Voronenko (1950) - State Prizewinner of Ukraine in the field of Science and Technology (1997), Honoured Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine (1999), Corresponding Member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (2003), Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Higher School of Ukraine (1996), Academician of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Poland (2003), Academician of the International Academy of Medicine "Albert Schweitzer"; (2003), Doctor of Medical Science (1991), Professor (1991).

Graduated from O.O. Bohomolets Kyiv Medical Institute (now - National Medical University) with Honours (1973). Worked his way up from post-graduate student (1973-1976), assistant (1976-1983), Associate Professor (1983-1990) of the Department of Social Medicine to its head (1990 - 2003). Defended his Doctor's thesis "Social and Hygienic Fundamentals of Prophylaxis and Organization of Staging Treatment of Burns" (1991). Head of the Central Administration Board of Education, Science and Information-Analytical Maintenance of Ukrainian Health Ministry" (1995-2002).

Rector of the Academy since 2002. Head of the Department of organization of health care at NMAPE since 2003.

Well-known specialist in the field of social medicine in Ukraine and abroad. Scientific direction - theory and practice of social medicine, public health and medical education administration.

Author of more than 250 scientific works including 8 textbooks, 15 educational and methodological manual editions, 29 monographs and chapters.

Chairman of Specialized Board for Defence of Doctorate`s Theses in Social Medicine (2003).
